Topic: The strategy and method of biodiversity information system
A.Background and Objectives
CBIS is a combination of biodiversity research and system
information theories. The design and implementation of CBIS are
creative and explorative tasks. Even though there is no identical
existing system example, there are a few successful data banks of
biodiversity research existing around the world which has similar
functions as CBIS databases. It would be of great help to get some
knowledge and idea to shorten the period of building CBIS and
promote the level of construction and management in CBIS. The
objective of the study tour is to find out and study the advanced
strategy and method of building biodiversity information system to
improve the design level in CBIS.
B.Selecting Program
The members of the Study Tour must be advanced designers in
CBIS sub-component. The list of candidates will be proposed by the
United Working Group and Expert Group of Biodiversity Information
System and approved by the Committee of Biodiversity of CAS.
C.Activities
The Study Tour will cover 3 or 4 famous biodiversity
information systesm and data bank systems. The members of the Tour
will visit laboratories and discuss with scientists and engineers
in the systems.
D.Timing
The Study Tour will be in 1995 and take 3 weeks.
